Jeannette Tineo dies in fatal Newington car crash
Fatal Newington car crash death of Jeannette Tineo – Obituary
Jeannette Tineo, along with her sister Florinda Tineo and her niece Gabriela Difo, tragically lost their lives in a car accident on Saturday morning in Newington.
The victims were part of a deeply faith-driven family, and relatives have expressed that they have accepted their loss as part of a higher calling, with a belief that the family had fulfilled their mission on Earth.
The crash, which took place around 9 a.m. on Willard Avenue, also involved Maritza Smith from New Britain, who was in a separate vehicle. Authorities confirmed that none of the vehicles involved were stolen or driven without consent, and the survivor from the third vehicle is not believed to be at fault. Investigators are still looking into the details, with police urging the public to be patient as the inquiry continues.
Family members described the victims as devoted to both their faith and family. Josephine Nieves, daughter of Jeannette, shared how the family remained committed to prayer and community service, often visiting others to pray with them. She believes that in their final moments, her mother, aunt, and cousin were most likely praying together. Florinda Tineo had relocated to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic with her children to provide them with better educational opportunities. Her daughter, Gabriela Difo, had plans to attend college this fall, and her son was already studying at Central Connecticut State University.
The two sisters, Jeannette and Florinda, had strong connections to their parish, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in New Britain, where they actively contributed to community service efforts. Melvin Tineo, a family member from Brooklyn, fondly recalled the sisters as women who lived their lives immersed in their faith.
At this time, funeral arrangements are pending. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and authorities are collecting evidence and conducting interviews to determine the cause of the tragic incident.
