A devastating crash in Newington on Saturday morning claimed the lives of four individuals. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on Willard Avenue at Greenlawn Avenue when three vehicles collided. The victims have been identified as 17-year-old Gabriela Difo, a senior at Newington High School; her mother, 50-year-old Florinda Tineo; her aunt, 48-year-old Jeannette Tineo; and 56-year-old Maritza Smith, of New Britain.

Local authorities have reported that a fifth person involved in the crash sustained only minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing, and while police have not yet determined the cause of the accident, they do not believe the surviving individual was at fault. The Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Squad is handling the case, and authorities expect the investigation to take weeks or even months to complete.
