State police have confirmed that Rene Davis, a 60-year-old resident of Greensburg, lost her life in a three-vehicle collision on Friday morning near the intersection of Routes 22 and 819 in Salem Township, Westmoreland County.
Authorities from the Kiski Valley barracks reported that the crash happened at approximately 7:10 a.m. when a Mack Truck, driven by Isaac Stemple of Buckhannon, West Virginia, allegedly ran a red light and struck the driver’s side of Davis’s school van. A third vehicle, driven by a 17-year-old girl from Export, then collided with the truck while traveling in the northbound lane.
Emergency responders pronounced Davis dead at the scene. The teenage driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital by Mutual Aid EMS, while Stemple remained uninjured.
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and authorities have indicated that charges may be filed. The accident caused significant traffic delays on Route 22 for nearly five hours.
