Authorities in Stafford County, Virginia, are investigating the fatal shooting of 61-year-old Harold Chamberlain Jr., who was killed during an altercation on February 28, 2025.
Deputies had responded to a reckless driver on an off-road motorcycle when an off-duty FBI agent confronted the motorcyclist. After the motorcyclist fled, he returned with family members, leading to a traffic stop.
As deputies attempted to manage the situation, the family members allegedly caused a disturbance, which escalated into a physical confrontation. Hearing the commotion, Chamberlain rushed to help from his yard. During the altercation, the off-duty FBI agent discharged his weapon, fatally wounding Chamberlain in the chest. He was transported to the hospital, where he died that evening.
The sheriff’s office has charged three individuals, including Nicolas Vazquez, Angel Vazquez, and Xavier Vazquez, with multiple offenses, but the investigation into the FBI agent’s actions is ongoing.
