Fatal West Palm Beach deputy-involved shooting death of Tyrone Riser – Obituary

Authorities have identified Tyrone Riser, 20, as the man who was fatally shot by deputies during a violent domestic incident in West Palm Beach.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded around 3 a.m. Saturday to a home on Emerald Dunes Drive after receiving calls about a domestic dispute.

When deputies arrived, they encountered a confrontation between Tyrone Riser and his 52-year-old father, Alfonzo Riser, inside the residence. Officials said deputies witnessed Tyrone stabbing Alfonzo with a sword.

Despite commands to drop the weapon, Tyrone refused, prompting a deputy to open fire. Both Tyrone and Alfonzo were provided medical assistance at the scene but later died from their injuries.

Following protocol, the deputy involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Division, the State Attorney’s Office, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are conducting a joint investigation into the incident.
