Reggie Allen Knight, 28, was fatally shot by police officers on Friday while they were attempting to arrest him in northeast Charlotte. Knight, who was wanted on multiple warrants, including charges related to drug possession and assault, engaged in gunfire with law enforcement officers when they arrived at Headquarters Farm Road. During the exchange, two officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Knight was declared dead at the scene, and the officers were taken to the hospital for treatment. They are expected to recover from their injuries. The incident unfolded shortly after 4:45 p.m., and authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing. Knight had a history of prior arrests in multiple counties. The two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave as per department protocol.
