John Carrizales, 51, has been identified as the motorcyclist who lost his life in a collision on Interstate 35 in Austin on Saturday morning.

The Austin Police Department reported that the crash happened around 10:44 a.m. near the Slaughter Creek Overpass while Carrizales was taking part in the annual Ride for the Fallen event. He collided with another motorcycle during the ride.

Emergency crews from Austin-Travis County EMS arrived at the scene and pronounced Carrizales dead. The second motorcyclist involved was unharmed and stayed at the scene to cooperate with investigators.

Authorities have not yet shared further information regarding the circumstances of the accident. The investigation remains active.
