Fatal Essex River Thames death of Edward Smith – Obituary

Edward Smith, who also went by the surname Stockings, was found dead in the River Thames in Rainham, Essex, on March 7. Authorities believe he entered the water after abandoning his car near the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge at Dartford following the fatal shooting of his wife.

Lisa Smith, 43, from Slough, was shot and killed outside The Three Horseshoes pub on February 14, where she had been meeting a friend. Investigators linked Edward Smith to the incident, and his disappearance shortly after led to a search that ended with the discovery of his body in the river.

Kent Police have confirmed his identity, and a full inquest into Lisa Smith’s death is scheduled for September. The case remains under investigation.
