Ricardo Martinez Alfaro, 41, of San Luis Obispo, was arrested on April 24, 2025, following a hit-and-run incident that left a pedestrian with major injuries in Santa Maria.

The collision occurred around 9:10 a.m. on the northbound Highway 101 onramp at Broadway. Despite fleeing the scene, the incident was captured on a vehicle’s dash camera, which helped police identify the suspect’s vehicle.

Later that day, police located the vehicle near Broadway and Cook Street, where they made contact with Alfaro.

He was taken into custody on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing injury. Authorities say the pedestrian is expected to recover, and the investigation is ongoing.
