Joe Clark, a pastor from the First Baptist Church of Harrietts Bluff, was tragically killed in a shooting in Camden County on Sunday. His grandson, who was also injured in the incident, is expected to recover following surgery for a gunshot wound.
Around 1 p.m. on April 27, Camden County deputies responded to a shooting at the Deerwood Village gated community near Harrietts Bluff Road. Upon arriving, they found Clark and his grandson, both with gunshot wounds. Clark was transported to the hospital but later passed away from his injuries. The child, though seriously injured, is recovering after surgery.
Clark, known affectionately as “Pastor Joe” in the community, was a dedicated Bible teacher and a beloved figure at his church. A close pastor described him as a godly man, a servant to all, and someone who had recently celebrated his 41st wedding anniversary. The community has expressed deep sorrow at his loss, with many remembering his kind nature and dedication to improving the area.
The investigation is ongoing, with Camden County deputies reviewing security camera footage from the scene, which is expected to help clarify the events surrounding the tragedy. As of now, no arrests have been made. Sheriff Kevin Chaney assured that the investigation will be thorough and impartial.
