Fatal West Oak Cliff shooting death of Jimmie Walker – Obituary
Jimmie Walker, 51, was shot and killed on the morning of April 4 in the 1200 block of North Cockrell Hill Road in West Oak Cliff, Dallas.
His death is one of two homicides allegedly committed by 30-year-old Garrett Hudgens, who is now facing two murder charges.
According to investigators, a .45-caliber shell casing found at Walker’s crime scene matched one recovered from a second fatal shooting on April 23 near Fair Park, where 71-year-old Percy Howard was killed. Surveillance video from both crime scenes showed a black Chevrolet Tahoe with visible front driver’s side damage, which led police to connect the incidents.
Further investigation revealed that the same cellphone number — linked to Hudgens — was present at both locations during the times of the shootings. Detectives also traced the SUV to a relative of Hudgens, and license plate scans placed the vehicle near the scenes of both killings.
Dallas police conducted surveillance at Hudgens’ residence, confirming the vehicle and suspect’s presence. He was taken into custody on April 25 and booked into the Dallas County jail. Authorities have not yet revealed the motive behind either shooting.
