Fatal Clear Creek County deputy-involved shooting death of Christine Lewis – Obituary

Christine Lewis, 36, was shot and killed by three deputies from the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office on March 6 during an attempted arrest. Lewis, who had a criminal history stretching back to 2008, was wanted in Oklahoma for multiple charges, including firearm possession after a felony conviction and drug-related offenses. The incident began when a person in her vehicle called police to report her arrest warrant.

Upon arrival, deputies attempted to arrest Lewis, but she led them on a car chase, eventually crashing near a bridge on County Road 306 in Lawson. When she exited the vehicle holding a firearm, deputies tried to use non-lethal measures to de-escalate the situation.

However, when Lewis aimed her weapon at the officers, they opened fire. She was transported to a Denver hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
