Four young girls tragically lost their lives when a car drove into the YNOT After School Camp on Monday in Chatham, Illinois. The crash also left six others injured, some critically.
The victims were identified as Ainsley Johnson, 8; Rylee Britton, 18; Kathryn Corley, 7; and Alma Buhnerkempe, 7. They all succumbed to multiple blunt force injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, 44-year-old Marianne Akers from Chatham, has not been arrested as the crash investigation continues. She was not injured in the incident.
The car struck three of the victims outside a building before continuing into the structure, hitting another child. The incident, which is not believed to be intentional, remains under investigation.
The Chatham community has rallied together with support services, including vigils and fundraisers, as families mourn the loss of their loved ones.
