Fatal Arlington shooting death of Omed Abdal and Ayaz Mohsin Abdullah – Obituary

Arlington police have identified the two men who lost their lives in a shooting incident on Saturday, April 26, at a QuikTrip convenience store. The victims, 20-year-old Omed Abdal and 19-year-old Ayaz Mohsin Abdullah, were both found in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. They were rushed to the hospital but were later declared dead from their injuries.

The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. in the 5600 block of S. Cooper Street. Police responded to a report of a shooting and discovered the two men unresponsive. Abdal was declared dead in the hospital’s emergency room, while Abdullah was also pronounced dead at the same facility. Another 19-year-old man, who suffered a gunshot wound to his foot, was treated and released from the hospital.

Investigators believe a fight had erupted between two groups in the parking lot before shots were fired. The suspect, 17-year-old Saman Islam, allegedly retrieved a gun from a vehicle and fired multiple shots. Although the motive behind the fight remains unclear, Islam was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.

Islam is facing serious charges, including capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond has been set at $100,000 for the assault charge and $1,000,000 for the capital murder charge. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
