Fatal Trumbull bat attack death of Lida Shape – Obituary

Lida Shape, 70, tragically lost her life after a brutal attack in Trumbull on Monday. The assault took place outside her residence at the Ten-Trumbull apartment complex, where Shape was confronted by Ylli Shtopaku, 45, a Norwalk man. According to police, the attack occurred after a brief argument, during which Shtopaku retrieved a bat from his vehicle and struck Shape in the head, causing her to fall to the ground. Despite immediate emergency responses, she was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.

Shtopaku was arrested at the scene and charged with murder.

During his court appearance, the judge set his bail at $3 million and ordered him to be placed on suicide watch. Investigators revealed that Shtopaku and Shape were once relatives but had been estranged for years due to a family divorce. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
