Fatal Mapleton Falls National Park death of Kate Cooper – Obituary
Kate Cooper, 36, tragically lost her life after falling over 260 feet at Mapleton Falls in the Glass House Mountains, Queensland, on Friday, April 25, 2025.
Cooper had been hiking near the edge of the waterfall when she slipped and fell around 3:30 p.m. Despite swift emergency response, she succumbed to catastrophic injuries and was confirmed dead shortly after.
Her partner, Simon Rosenkranz, expressed deep sorrow in an online tribute, calling her “one of the most beautiful people” he had ever met. Friends fondly remembered Cooper for her warmth, humor, and kindness.
Local authorities have stated that her death is not considered suspicious. Unfortunately, Cooper’s death is the third fatal fall at a waterfall on the Sunshine Coast this year, prompting authorities to issue a warning about the dangerous conditions at Mapleton Falls.
The public is advised to stay behind safety fences, supervise children, and adhere to warning signs while visiting.
