Fatal Fort Wayne pedestrian accident death of Donald Okeefe Green – Obituary

Donald Okeefe Green, 69, lost his life after being struck by a vehicle on Fort Wayne’s southeast side Monday night.

 

Authorities reported that Green was hit near the intersection of S. Anthony Boulevard and Lafayette Street around 8:10 p.m. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Allen County Coroner’s Office confirmed that he died from multiple blunt force injuries, ruling the incident an accident.

 

According to police, an initial investigation indicated that Green was crossing the northbound lanes of S. Lafayette Street as a vehicle proceeded through the intersection on a green light. The driver, who was not injured, remained on the scene, attempted to provide medical assistance, and cooperated with authorities. Officials stated that neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash.

 

The Fort Wayne Police Department, along with the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and Coroner’s Office, continues to investigate the incident.
