Dennis Michael Kay, a 19-year-old resident of Jackson County, West Virginia, was discovered dead early Tuesday morning along Route 2 in the Flatrock area near Eckard Chapel Road. Authorities believe he was struck by a vehicle overnight.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with West Virginia State Police, has launched an investigation into the suspected hit-and-run.

One lane of Route 2 was temporarily closed as officials responded to the scene and began collecting evidence.

Deputies are urging anyone who lives nearby and may have surveillance footage or relevant details about the incident to contact the sheriff’s office.
