Michael Simpson dies in fatal Florence shooting

Michael Simpson dies in fatal Florence shooting

Fatal Florence shooting death of Michael Simpson – Obituary

Michael Simpson, 35, of Cleves, was fatally shot by sheriff’s deputies Tuesday morning near an Amazon facility in Florence, Kentucky. The incident began when law enforcement attempted to stop a stolen semi-truck on Industrial Road near Empire Drive.

According to Kentucky State Police, Simpson exited the truck but did not comply with officers’ commands. Witnesses reported seeing him walking with a firearm pointed at his own head while officers followed closely behind with their weapons drawn.

Despite repeated orders to drop the weapon, Simpson continued into the Amazon Fulfillment Center’s parking lot. Witnesses said officers warned him not to aim the gun at them, followed moments later by the sound of gunfire.

Simpson was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities confirmed he had no connection to Amazon. One Florence police officer sustained minor injuries during the initial encounter at the traffic stop.
