Fatal Chicago car crash death of Jamie T. Cerney – Obituary

A tragic multi-vehicle crash near Midway Airport on Monday night resulted in the death of a pedestrian, identified as 38-year-old Jamie T. Cerney of Chicago.

The accident happened around 11:14 p.m. in the 5200 block of West 63rd Street. According to Chicago police, a white Infiniti sedan sideswiped a black Infiniti sedan, which then collided with a Nissan that was traveling in the same direction.

The impact caused the white Infiniti to jump the curb, striking Cerney. Emergency responders transported him to Advocate Christ Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

After hitting Cerney, the white Infiniti crashed into an airport hangar, further intensifying the scene. A witness, who was involved in the crash, described the moment of impact, stating that their vehicle was sideswiped, airbags deployed, and they suddenly saw a person being thrown.

The driver of the white Infiniti was hospitalized in fair condition, while his female passenger was also transported for medical evaluation, though her condition remains unclear. The driver of the black Infiniti was unharmed but taken to a hospital as a precaution, and his passenger was uninjured. The Nissan driver declined medical treatment.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and no citations have been issued at this time.
