Fatal Trumbull assault death of Lida Shape – Obituary
Lida Shape, a 70-year-old resident of the Ten Trumbull apartment complex, lost her life after being brutally attacked with a bat outside the building’s main office on Oakview Drive on April 28, 2025.
Responding to several emergency calls, Trumbull Police arrived to find her gravely injured and the suspect, 45-year-old Ylli Shtopaku, still on site.
According to witness statements, Shtopaku approached a group of women he knew, engaged in a brief argument, then retrieved a bat from his vehicle and struck Shape while chasing her. The attack was later determined by police to be targeted and domestic in nature. While the two were previously connected through marriage, they no longer had any family ties.
Shape was rushed to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center, where she died from her injuries. Shtopaku, originally believed to be from Monroe, was later confirmed to reside in Norwalk. He has been charged with murder and is currently in custody on a $3 million bond, awaiting arraignment in Bridgeport Superior Court.
Authorities continue to investigate the case, speaking with witnesses and gathering further evidence. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the Trumbull Police Department.
