Fatal Birmingham shooting death of Lemijamin Jarquis Watters – Obituary
Lemijamin Jarquis Watters, a 27-year-old Birmingham resident, was found fatally shot at an intersection in the Ensley neighborhood. Authorities identified him after his body was discovered Saturday evening.
Officers from the Birmingham Police Department responded around 7 p.m. to a report of an unresponsive person at Avenue E and 16th Street. Upon arrival, they found Watters lying in the roadway. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced him dead at 7:12 p.m.
Initially, the cause of his fatal injuries was unclear, but by Sunday, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office determined he had been shot. Police reported no prior alerts of gunfire in the area, and Shot Spotter did not detect any gunshots.
