Sylvia Cruz, 53, of Fresno, tragically passed away after being struck by multiple vehicles on the Golden State on-ramp to northbound Highway 99 on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
The California Highway Patrol received a call at around 7:50 p.m. regarding a person lying in the roadway, and emergency responders arrived to find Cruz deceased at the scene.
Investigators believe Cruz was walking within the roadway when the crash occurred, wearing dark clothing in an area with limited lighting.
Evidence collected at the scene suggests she was struck by two or three vehicles, all of which fled the scene.
The CHP is continuing its investigation, analyzing the vehicle debris found at the scene to piece together the details of the incident.
