Mario Torres, a 35-year-old man, was fatally shot during a confrontation with Los Angeles Police Department officers on Friday, March 14, 2025.
The incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. on Imperial Highway, east of Broadway, when officers from the Southeast Division conducted a traffic stop.
After the driver exited the vehicle, one officer opened fire. Torres was struck and later transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including whether Torres was armed, remain unclear, and the LAPD has not provided further details. Fortunately, no officers were injured in the incident.
