Camilla Williams dies in fatal Cobb County, Georgia, homicide
Fatal Cobb County, Georgia, homicide death of Camilla Williams – Obituary
A 52-year-old mother of five, Camilla Williams, was found dead in a Marietta neighborhood on Thursday morning, and authorities have arrested a suspect.
Police were called to a home on Pat Mell Road at approximately 8:25 a.m. after receiving a report about an individual lying on the ground. Upon arrival, officers discovered Williams’ body, and detectives soon launched a homicide investigation.
Danielle Williams, Camilla’s niece, shared with 11Alive how her aunt was a vibrant person known for always smiling. “She was always smiling.
Anywhere you’d see Camilla, she was smiling, whether it was with her mouth or with her eyes. Her eyes lit up a room when she walked in,” Danielle recalled.
As the investigation progressed, law enforcement identified 21-year-old Hector David Sagastume Rivas as the suspect.
Authorities issued a warrant for his arrest, detailing that he allegedly killed Williams by choking her until she lost consciousness, then placing both knees and his full body weight on her neck.
Danielle Williams expressed her disbelief and confusion about the relationship between her aunt and the suspect, stating she was unsure if they had known each other. “I’m not sure how she knew him or pretty much anything else about him, just what he’d done was really horrific,” she said.
On Monday afternoon, a SWAT team executed a search warrant in connection with the case on Windy Hill Road, but Sagastume Rivas was not located at the scene.
He was later arrested and charged with felony murder. Authorities have denied him bond, citing concerns that he poses a danger to the community.
Camilla’s family remains in shock. Danielle Williams described the tragedy as “mind-blowing,” struggling to comprehend how someone could commit such an act.
