Donovan Booker dies in fatal Kansas City shooting

Fatal Kansas City shooting death of Donovan Booker – Obituary

Eighteen-year-old Donovan Booker was killed in a shooting outside a liquor store near East 9th Street and Prospect Avenue in Kansas City on the evening of April 28.

Police were dispatched shortly before 6 p.m. and found Booker suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot. He was transported to University Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

According to witness statements and court filings, the shooting stemmed from an attempted robbery inside the store. A customer who was armed said he was standing at the counter with his girlfriend when two men approached him.

One of them allegedly reached for the man’s 9mm pistol tucked in his pocket. A struggle ensued, and during the fight, the second man reportedly drew a firearm and aimed it at the witness.

Court records say the man grappling for the gun urged his accomplice to shoot. Amid the scuffle, the witness managed to regain control of his weapon and fired at the individual who initially tried to disarm him—identified later as Donovan Booker. Booker collapsed just outside the store entrance.

The second suspect, 24-year-old Jeremiah Williamson, fled to the back of the store but was later apprehended and charged with second-degree murder, attempted first-degree robbery, and armed criminal action. He is currently being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
