Fatal Lake Marion kayaking death of Henry Bryant IV – Obituary
Authorities have identified the body of a missing kayaker found in Lake Marion as 44-year-old Henry Bryant IV of Summerville.
According to the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office, Bryant’s body was discovered on Sunday by a dive team using sonar. His unoccupied kayak, along with his equipment, had been located the day before, prompting an extensive search effort.
Preliminary findings indicate that Bryant died from asphyxia due to drowning. The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
