Graham Hoffman dies in fatal Kansas City, Missouri stabbing

Fatal Kansas City, Missouri stabbing death of Graham Hoffman – Obituary

Graham Hoffman, a 29-year-old firefighter-paramedic with the Kansas City Fire Department, was fatally stabbed in the early morning hours of Sunday during a medical call on a highway in the Northland area. The woman accused in the attack, Shanetta Bossell, has been charged with multiple felonies including first-degree murder, armed criminal action, assault on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest.

Court documents reveal the incident began just after midnight when officers responded to a welfare check for a woman walking along Missouri 152 and North Oak Trafficway. That woman, later identified as Bossell, had a bleeding finger injury. EMS personnel were called to the scene, and after assessing her, determined she was not a threat to herself. Although Bossell initially declined hospital transport and requested to be taken home, she later agreed to go to the hospital in an ambulance, which was followed by a police officer.

As the ambulance traveled down the highway, a struggle broke out in the back. The driver heard Hoffman shout for help and mention a knife. The ambulance pulled over, and the paramedic driver ran to assist. He found Hoffman and Bossell engaged in a physical altercation, during which Hoffman was reportedly stabbed in the heart.

The suspect then attempted to flee by trying to drive off in the ambulance but was intercepted by the trailing officer. During the confrontation, Bossell allegedly bit the officer’s arm and had to be subdued with force before being taken into custody.

Hoffman was rushed for emergency surgery but later died from his injuries. Authorities recovered a knife from the scene and found blood and scattered medical equipment inside the ambulance. Bossell had recently been released on bond for a separate assault involving a police officer days prior to the stabbing. She is currently held on a $1 million bond.
