Authorities have identified 78-year-old Mary Shockley as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle last Thursday night in Spokane’s West Hills neighborhood.

The collision occurred around 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of Sunset Highway and Lewis Street, according to Spokane police. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but Shockley died from the blunt-force injuries she sustained in the crash. The Spokane County Medical Examiner has ruled her death accidental.

The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated fully with law enforcement. Police reported that the driver did not exhibit signs of impairment and was released without charges following the incident.
