Fatal Las Vegas shooting death of Leonard Taylor Jr. – Obituary
Leonard Taylor Jr., 49, died at the scene of a shooting that occurred near Harry Reid International Airport late Friday night. Authorities confirmed his identity on Tuesday afternoon but have not yet disclosed his exact cause of death.
According to the Clark County coroner’s office, Taylor was described as a witness who lost consciousness and was pronounced dead at the location. The circumstances surrounding his involvement in the incident remain unclear.
Police had responded shortly before 9 p.m. to reports of a shooting in a parking lot on the 6600 block of Gilespie Street. Officers discovered two individuals — Engel Diaz Alarcon, 22, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and later died at a hospital, and Jacob Conrad, 34, who was taken into custody on an open murder charge.
Investigators believe Conrad and Alarcon had driven to the lot together and became involved in a physical altercation that escalated into gunfire. As of Tuesday evening, it was still uncertain whether Taylor had any prior connection to the other two men involved.
In addition to the murder charge, court records show that Conrad is also facing legal action stemming from a warrant issued in a different state. His preliminary hearing is set for May 13 in Las Vegas Justice Court.
