Fatal Chicago shooting death of Tawon Tribble – Obituary
Chicago police have identified 13-year-old Tawon Tribble as the victim of a fatal shooting inside a home in the Englewood neighborhood on Monday evening.
Officers arrived at a residence on 65th Place near Normal Boulevard just before 7 p.m. and discovered Tribble with a gunshot wound to the chest. Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot from a back room and seeing someone flee immediately afterward.
Tribble was rushed to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have taken a person of interest into custody for questioning, though no charges have been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.
Pastor Donovan Price, who met with Tribble’s grieving parents at the hospital, described their devastation, emphasizing the need for increased gun safety measures in the community.
The tragedy follows several other child-involved shootings in Chicago, including an 8-year-old who was fatally shot and his 5-year-old brother who was wounded in Grand Crossing after their father left a loaded gun unattended. Additionally, a 12-year-old girl died in an accidental shooting in Calumet Heights in February.
Area 1 detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Tribble’s death.
