Fatal Fort Lauderdale shooting death of Demetrius Jones – Obituary

Demetrius Lamar Jones, 34, was fatally shot in a residential neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale early Wednesday morning, according to local authorities.

Police responded to the scene in the 1300 block of Northwest Eighth Avenue shortly after 3 a.m. following a ShotSpotter alert, which detects gunfire. When officers and Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived, they found Jones with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

That same afternoon, homicide detectives obtained and executed a search warrant for a nearby residence believed to be connected to the case. No arrests have been made so far, and the investigation remains active.
