Fatal New Berlin hit-and-run crash death of 35-year-old Maysa Davis – Obituary
A 35-year-old woman, Maysa Davis, tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run accident that occurred on March 22 along Interstate 72 near milepost 82.5 in New Berlin. The incident led to a police investigation which resulted in the arrest of 65-year-old Robert W. Butcher from Pleasant Plains.
Davis was found on the side of the highway by a New Berlin police officer after being struck by a vehicle. She was immediately taken to a hospital but later passed away from her injuries. Through further investigation, Illinois State Police identified Butcher as the driver involved in the crash. On March 24, Butcher was arrested and taken to the Sangamon County Jail. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
