A 46-year-old man from Worth, Douglas Richer, has tragically passed away following a hit-and-run crash on Monday evening. The incident occurred near the 6600 block of 115th Street around 6:20 p.m.
Police said Richer was crossing 115th Street when he was struck by a dark-colored sedan that did not stop. Witnesses to the incident followed the vehicle and helped identify it to authorities. The driver, a 27-year-old Worth resident, was apprehended shortly after the crash.
The vehicle was located, showing clear signs of damage consistent with a traffic collision. Richer was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities have identified him as Douglas Richer, and the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit is now assisting with the investigation. Charges against the driver are pending.
