Richard L. Henline Jr., 80, was killed in a shooting at his Roanoke home Thursday night, an incident that authorities have ruled a homicide. His son, 46-year-old Brandon L. Henline, was identified as the shooter and later died by suicide.
The Huntington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Allen Street shortly after 9 p.m., where both men were found with critical gunshot injuries. They were transported to a hospital but were pronounced dead that same evening.
According to investigators, the tragic event followed a heated argument between the two men. Authorities believe Brandon Henline shot his father multiple times before turning the gun on himself.
The Huntington County Coroner’s Office confirmed the cause and manner of both deaths, labeling Richard Henline’s death a homicide and Brandon Henline’s a suicide. The case remains under investigation.
