Fatal Waldorf pedestrian crash death of Elizabeth Ann Akers – Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Akers, 56, of Waldorf, was killed Thursday evening after being struck by two vehicles while attempting to cross Old Washington Road in a wheelchair, authorities confirmed.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred around 8:17 p.m. near Trade Zone Court. Akers was not in a crosswalk when she was hit by a southbound vehicle and then a northbound one while in the roadway.

Both drivers involved remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators. At this time, no charges have been filed, and the investigation is still active.

The crash led to the temporary closure of Old Washington Road as the Traffic Operations Unit processed the scene. Authorities are asking anyone with further information to contact PFC Walker at 301-609-3251.
