Fatal Adams County crash death of Jerimiah D. Engle – Obituary

A deadly collision early Saturday morning on Gardner Expressway in Adams County claimed the life of 28-year-old Jerimiah D. Engle of Hannibal, Missouri, authorities reported.

According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 5:33 a.m. when a vehicle driven by Engle collided with a FedEx semi-truck near the 6000 block of Gardner Expressway. Engle, who was the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene by Adams County Coroner Scott Graham.

Due to the severity of the crash, Illinois State Police closed IL 57 between South 12th Street and Turtle Lake Road. Officials anticipate the road will remain shut for several hours while investigators examine the scene.

Responding agencies included the Illinois State Police, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, and the Illinois Department of Transportation.
