Fatal Long Meadow Road shooting death of Carrie Jenkins – Obituary
Carrie Jenkins, 61, was fatally shot Thursday morning in a domestic violence incident on Long Meadow Road in Mobile, according to the Mobile Police Department.
Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Long Meadow Road just before noon after receiving a report of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered that both Jenkins and a man, identified as her husband, had been shot.
Investigators later determined that the man shot Jenkins before turning the gun on himself. Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Authorities believe the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute and have labeled it an isolated incident involving only the two individuals. Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots, with one witness recalling two shots fired about five minutes apart.
