Fatal Adelaide Hills car crash deaths of Luke Marko and Sami Adnan – Obituary

Tragedy struck the Adelaide Hills on Sunday when rising martial arts talents Luke Marko, 21, and Sami Adnan, 22, lost their lives in a devastating car crash on Echunga Road in Paechtown, near Hahndorf.

The two close friends were returning from a training session around 5 p.m. when their Holden Astra veered off the road and collided with a gumtree, crushing the vehicle.

Sami, who had only received his driver’s license three weeks earlier, was driving at the time of the incident. Both men suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Luke was known as a champion in jiu-jitsu, while Sami had recently claimed victory in an interstate MMA bout. Their loss has deeply affected the martial arts community, as well as their families and friends.

Luke’s coach, Daniel Marinelli, expressed profound sorrow, noting that he would be greatly missed by his teammates and loved ones, including his best friend Mary.

Friend Alec Burns remembered the pair as brothers in spirit, calling Luke a fighter destined for greatness.

This heartbreaking accident brings South Australia’s road toll for the year to 27. Authorities are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
