Melissa Johnson, a 40-year-old resident of rural Luck, Wisconsin, lost her life in a tragic traffic accident that occurred Saturday evening in Polk County. The crash happened around 7:40 p.m. when Johnson, who was driving a pickup truck pulling a trailer, failed to obey a stop sign while heading north on Highway 65.

Authorities say her vehicle entered the intersection with Highway 8 and was struck on the side by a westbound passenger car. The impact proved fatal for Johnson, who was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered serious injuries and was flown to Regions Hospital in St. Paul for emergency treatment. Officials from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office are continuing their investigation into the collision.
