Fatal Lock Haven car crash death of Evan Geisewite – Obituary

A tragic collision in Lock Haven claimed the life of 29-year-old Evan Geisewite of Loganton, along with his unborn child, after a suspected drunk driver traveled the wrong way on Route 220. The incident occurred on the evening of April 9 around 6:20 p.m.

According to authorities, Dwight L. Meyer was driving under the influence when he entered the northbound lanes of the four-lane divided highway heading southbound. Rather than pulling over, Meyer continued in the wrong direction in hopes of reaching an emergency crossover, passing 12 vehicles before colliding head-on with the Geisewites’ car.

Evan Geisewite sustained critical injuries and went into traumatic arrest at the crash site. He was taken to UPMC Lock Haven, where he was pronounced dead. His wife, 28-year-old Amanda Geisewite, who was eight months pregnant, suffered severe injuries including a fractured neck. She was airlifted to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where their unborn child was later declared deceased.

At the hospital, Meyer told troopers he had been drinking following an argument with his girlfriend and mistakenly took a wrong turn. He admitted to consuming four or five beers and using a vape device he believed only contained nicotine. Authorities, however, discovered marijuana vape cartridges in his vehicle.

Blood tests revealed Meyer’s alcohol level was .215 percent—more than twice the legal limit. He now faces numerous charges, including two counts of third-degree murder, homicide by vehicle, DUI-related vehicular homicide, aggravated assault, involuntary manslaughter, and multiple traffic offenses.

Meyer is currently being held without bail in the Clinton County Correctional Facility.
