Fatal Glendale shooting death of Damien Anthony Sproule, Christopher Juaquin Sproule, and Milo Christopher Suniga – Obituary

Three young men lost their lives and five others sustained injuries during a violent shooting that broke out Sunday evening in Glendale, Arizona. The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Glendale and Grand avenues, at a location where a car show and live music event was taking place. Authorities noted the gathering might have been associated with a Cinco de Mayo celebration.

According to Glendale police, the victims who died were identified as 17-year-old Damien Anthony Sproule, 21-year-old Christopher Juaquin Sproule, and 21-year-old Milo Christopher Suniga. Investigators revealed that two of the victims were brothers.

Five more individuals, ranging in age from 16 to 23, were hurt during the gunfire but are all expected to recover, officials said.

Glendale Police Department’s public safety communications manager, Jose Santiago, addressed the ongoing investigation, assuring the public that law enforcement is working diligently to track down those involved. “We are doing everything in our power to apprehend the individuals responsible and bring justice to the families,” he stated.

Officials said the rapid response by officers and the cooperation of bystanders helped prevent an even more tragic outcome. On Monday, investigators confirmed they were still seeking suspects and additional persons of interest who may have knowledge about the incident.

Authorities emphasized that this appeared to be a targeted altercation, rooted in existing tensions between certain individuals. They stressed that the broader community is not at risk.

A witness told 12News that the shooting unfolded outside El Camarón Gigante, a restaurant where a festive, family-friendly Cinco de Mayo party was taking place. The event included people of all ages.

Detectives believe the violence started after a fight broke out inside the restaurant, leading to some individuals being escorted out. The confrontation escalated in the parking lot, where shots were fired.

At the time of the gunfire, families remained inside the restaurant, and it’s still unknown whether those injured were directly involved in the conflict.

One witness recounted to reporters that he had just exited the restaurant and was by his vehicle when he heard over 20 gunshots in a burst lasting 15 to 20 seconds. After a short pause, another round of around 10 shots followed. His car was struck by bullets, resulting in a flat tire.

The man also described helping a woman who ran from the restaurant with multiple gunshot wounds. He administered first aid and kept her calm until emergency responders arrived.
