Fatal Concord RV fire death of David Browall – Obituary
David Browall, a 25-year-old resident of Concord, was identified as the individual who lost his life in an RV fire early Saturday morning at the former Steeplegate Mall. Authorities confirmed that he died due to smoke inhalation.
The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on the east side of the mall’s parking lot. Firefighters arrived to find the RV completely engulfed in flames. They were able to extinguish the fire within about 30 minutes, after which Browall was discovered deceased inside the vehicle, according to the State Fire Marshal’s office.
The RV, which was stationary and hitched to a GMC Yukon on blocks, appeared to be under repair or unused for some time. Two additional trailers were nearby, positioned close to the TD Bank.
This marks the second death at the location in less than a year, following a fatality at a campsite on the same property last summer. The area has drawn attention for safety concerns amid ongoing legal disputes delaying the planned demolition and redevelopment of the mall site.
The fire remains under investigation by both state and local authorities.
