Fatal Wilmington homicide death of Cedric Adkins – Obituary

Cedric Adkins, 63, was found deceased in a wooded area near the intersection of Hurst and Clay streets in Wilmington on May 2, 2025, prompting a homicide investigation by local authorities.

 

Police were initially dispatched around 1 p.m. in response to what was reported as a potential medical emergency. Upon arrival, officers located Adkins’ body in the woods. The Wilmington Police Department has since classified the incident as a homicide, and their Criminal Investigation Division is actively working the case.

 

Officials urge anyone who may have relevant information to contact the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3609 or submit tips anonymously through the Tip 411 app. The investigation remains ongoing.
