Fatal Jefferson County, West Virginia, weather-related death of Tyler Sigler – Obituary

Tyler Sigler, a beloved Washington High School assistant wrestling coach, tragically passed away over the weekend following a severe weather incident. The 28-year-old, who had been known as “Coach Siggy,” was a 2014 graduate of Washington High and continued his wrestling journey at Liberty University before returning to his high school to coach.

 

The wrestling community expressed their grief, with the team’s social media posting that Coach Siggy was much more than a coach to his athletes. He provided guidance, support, and a positive environment, always maintaining a lighthearted atmosphere with jokes and laughter. The post emphasized that Sigler cared for his athletes like family and built strong, lasting relationships with them.

 

According to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Victor Lupis, first responders attempted life-saving measures for Sigler at the scene before he was rushed to Jefferson Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Another individual, Tyler Browning, 29, from Harpers Ferry, was also involved in the accident. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to Winchester Medical Center, where his condition remained critical.

 

The loss of Sigler has sparked an outpouring of support from various community members, including current wrestlers, parents, and staff. Jefferson County Schools also expressed their condolences, highlighting Sigler’s high regard within both Washington High and the wider community.
