Fatal Tokyo hotel fire death of Amanda Borges da Silva – Obituary

Amanda Borges da Silva, a 30-year-old from Brazil, was tragically found dead in a hotel fire on May 1 near Narita Airport in Tokyo, just hours before she was due to board a flight home.

Silva, who had been staying in Japan since March for work as a researcher, was discovered in the early hours of the morning after the hotel fire, which is still under investigation.

Her friend, James Fernandes, confirmed that she was scheduled to return to Brazil on Thursday, but her life was cut short before she could make her flight. Local authorities arrested a Sri Lankan man suspected of leaving the hotel without extinguishing the fire. The cause of the blaze remains unknown.

The Brazilian Consulate in Tokyo is providing assistance to Silva’s family, who are working to raise funds to bring her body back to Brazil. Friends of Amanda, who was known for her passion for Formula One, paid tribute to her on social media. One follower recalled their shared love of F1, saying, “Thank you for all the reels, memes, and all the chats, especially those about Formula One. I promise to never forget you, my dear friend.”

Silva’s untimely death comes as her family grapples with the tragedy, and an investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
