Fatal North Highlands crash death of Volodymyr Molchanovych – Obituary

A tragic two-vehicle collision on Sunday night in North Highlands left 30-year-old Volodymyr Molchanovych of Sacramento dead and two drivers arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The crash occurred around 10:04 p.m. when a BMW sedan, driven by a 28-year-old man, collided with a Nissan Altima that was turning onto the roadway. The impact caused the BMW to veer off the road, hitting two trees before overturning.

 

Molchanovych, a passenger in the BMW, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The driver of the BMW was taken to Mercy San Juan Medical Center with serious injuries and was later arrested for DUI after refusing a chemical test. A warrant was obtained for a blood draw. The driver of the Nissan, a 50-year-old man, was also arrested at the scene on suspicion of DUI. A passenger in the Nissan sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

 

The investigation into the crash is ongoing as the California Highway Patrol’s North Sacramento office continues to gather details.
