Santrina Lester dies in fatal Deerfield Beach shooting

Fatal Deerfield Beach shooting death of Santrina Lester – Obituary

Santrina Lester, a 28-year-old woman from Pompano Beach, was shot and killed by deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday night following a reported disturbance in Deerfield Beach. Authorities say the shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. near 2060 N.E. Second Street.

Deputies responded to a 911 call indicating that an armed woman had pointed a firearm at another individual. When officers arrived, they found Lester inside a vehicle and issued verbal commands. According to officials, Lester pulled out a gun despite the warnings, prompting deputies to open fire.

The shooting reportedly occurred both inside and outside the vehicle. After Lester was struck, deputies administered CPR until emergency crews from Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue arrived. She was transported to Broward Health North, where she was later pronounced dead.

A firearm was discovered next to Lester at the scene. One deputy was injured during the incident but is expected to recover.

In line with department policy, the deputies involved have been placed on administrative duty while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement continues its investigation into the incident.
