Fatal Mecca head-on collision death of Emmanuel Guevara – Obituary

Emmanuel Guevara, a 45-year-old resident of Mecca, was killed in a devastating head-on crash Thursday afternoon in Riverside County. Authorities confirmed that the deadly accident occurred shortly after 12 p.m. on State Route 111, just south of Avenue 68.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened when a blue Honda Civic veered into the oncoming lane in an attempt to pass a slower vehicle. This maneuver led to a direct collision with a blue Acura TL traveling in the opposite direction.

Emmanuel Guevara was pronounced dead at the scene, along with the other driver involved in the crash. A female passenger was the only survivor and was flown by helicopter to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs to be treated for her injuries, the extent of which remains unknown.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the crash and have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
