Fatal Thomson apartment fire death of Ernest Lewis Jr. – Obituary

Authorities have identified 39-year-old Ernest Lewis Jr. of Thomson as the victim of a deadly apartment fire that occurred early Friday morning on Mesena Road.

Emergency personnel responded to a call reporting a structure fire in the 1100 block of Mesena Road at approximately 3:13 a.m. on May 9. Lewis was found at the scene and transported to the emergency room at Piedmont McDuffie, where he was pronounced dead at 4:15 a.m., according to the McDuffie County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death as investigators continue to look into the origin of the fire.
